Inspiration Manchester set to launch
15 July 2016
Inspiration is thrilled to announce the latest addition to the singing family – Inspiration Manchester. We have been working hard behind the scenes for a while now to bring the unique Inspiration experience to singers in the North West. Based in Manchester, we will be following in the footsteps of the likes of G4 and Russell Watson, and will be performing our first Christmas Spectacular at The Monastery, Gorton, on December 19th.
We will continue the tradition of all the Inspiration choirs rehearsing and performing the same repertoire each term, so Leeds, Newcastle, Southampton and now Manchester will all be learning the same songs at the same time. This Christmas concert is called ‘God Bless Us Everyone’ and is a Christmas extravaganza in the unique Inspiration style, with music from all aspects of the Christmas period. Old favourites are once again given a new spin, alongside brand new songs written by the latest stars of the Christmas scene (‘Unto Us A Child Is Born’ by Joshua Spacht). The lush film music style of John Williams (‘Somewhere In My Memory’) stands beside the exuberant musical theatre style of Disney (‘God Bless Us Everyone’ from A Christmas Carol). There will be Calypso (‘Let the Song Begin’) alongside John Rutter, and Gospel (‘Joy To The World’) alongside English classics (‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel’).
Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays from September 20th at The Oasis Academy in Oldham, and the Vocal Coach and Musical Director will be your ‘local hero’ Peter Wakefield.
You do not need to read music to join Inspiration, nor do you need to audition, you just need to enjoy singing. The membership fee covers the concert, all the rehearsals and all the sheet music you will need, plus a CD of your voice part for private practice. As a member of Inspiration you will also have access to the Members’ area of the website, where you will find a lot of useful information and tips, and also the singers’ forum for sharing your thoughts and ideas.
I know you will be keen to sign up as soon as you can, but if you know anyone is a little unsure, bring them along to the first rehearsal to give it a go. Once they've tried it, they will not want to stop.
I look forward to seeing you at the first rehearsal.
