It’s official! Inspiration Southampton has launched!

17 May 2015

After weeks of planning and one very successful open day (hugely helped out by Newcastle and Leeds choirs!) Inspiration Southampton had its first rehearsal this at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, Southampton.

The team all arrived early to spray air freshener around the room, put flowers out, polish the piano and generally make the room look as welcoming as possible – and then we awaited the first new members to arrive. Sure enough, just after 7pm the cars started streaming in and the queue formed as Andrew Burn (from the BSO) furiously took details, handed out name badges and ticked them all in. Not just the people who had registered online or been at the open day, but quite a few new faces too!

We got everyone in and welcomed them before tucking straight into our essential warm up routine.

Warm ups over, we had a sing through one of the songs covered in the Open Day, Blackadder – and what a sound! We definitely have the beginnings of a true Inspiration Choir here, and it’s only week one! After a short break we started a new song – Anthem.

All in all a very spirited and successful evening with smiling faces galore and I thing we all left with smiles on our faces and songs in our hearts.

If you would like to join Inspiration Southampton, it’s not too late to join. Simpy download and complete the application form and come along to the rehearsal on Wednesday.
