Singers raise a massive £2,500 for charity

6 October 2013

If you ask any of the Inspiration and Echo singers, they’ll tell you we had two busy but fun packed terms leading up to our spring and summer concerts this year. But in between the rehearsals and frantic word learning all of our singers were also busy fundraising.

We’re pleased to announce that the total raised tops £2,500. The fabulous sum has been donated to Butterwick Hospice and will be used to provide music equipment and therapy for children with cancer and their parents and carers.

In response to the donation the hospice said, “Thank you soooooo much. This will make such a huge difference to our patients.”

Fundraising activities included delicious bake sales (and the subsequent ‘sing and slim’ group), raffles, quizzes and charity walks to name just a few.

Special mention should go to Newcastle singer Gary Saunders (pictured) who sang in the Newcastle concert, travelled down to Leeds to take part in the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10K run and then sang in the Leeds concert too – all in one (very hot) weekend! Through sponsorship he alone managed to raise a fantastic £340.

Singer and author Julie Houston also donated all profits for one week from the sale of her new ebook ‘Goodness, Grace and Me’.

Well done everyone!
